Banding for Trunks 50' Roll T-159

T-159 is a 50' roll of heavy .031 gage trunk banding done in a black finish.   The width of the banding is 1 1/4". Antique trunk metal banding was frequently used at the bottom of an antique trunk and to cover the seam where the trunk lid and bottom portion meet. Trunk banding can also be found on the body of trunks used both vertically and horizontally. It was used both for decoration as well as structural support. Our steel trunk banding is made from a heavy gage steel. We recommending bending it to shape using either a vice or two pieces of wood. The trunk banding will hold its shape. To attach the trunk banding to the body of your antique trunk, we recommend either drilling small holes to nail through using a hole punch to create the holes. Out trunk tacks work well attaching the banding to the body of the trunk.

Please note that the 50' roll comes securely tied to keep it from unrolling.  We recommend making a dispenser for it before you untie it.  One suggestion is to take a heavy duty cardboard box just larger than the tied roll.  Make a slit on one side that you can slide the end of the roll through and pull through as much as you need at one time.  Make sure to have the roll in a contained space such as a strong box before you cut the rope.  The banding is under tension and will rapidly expand once the rope is removed.
